Birthdays really aren’t the same when you’re in your thirties, it’s a week day, and it’s only a few weeks since Christmas. I happened to spot Lorrelle from Loubodu Fabrics had posted on her IG stories that she’d received some birthday flowers on the same day, so I messaged and wished her a happy one. A couple of days later I was a little bemused to arrive home from work to find the best kind of parcel on the doormat – a squishy one. I was trying (kind of) not to add to my stash but began to wonder if I had “accidentally” ordered some fabric after a g+t or two…

I didn’t stop and pause for long before opening the parcel and finding a note inside, as well as a couple of metres stunning mustard jersey. Incredibly generously Lorrelle had gifted me the fabric as a birthday gift – how amazing is that? It’s a beautiful quality mustard jersey with an adorable fairy print, and because there was plenty of length I knew I could consider my options rather than just automatically making another Freya. I was absolutely blown away by how kind this was. I think the mustard is now out of stock but there is an equally pretty violet version still here.

I’d previously made one Nora (unblogged) with the stepped hem and turtle neck, so I wanted to try a different view. I went for a straightforward tshirt, making the most of the length of fabric. I sewed it all up on my overlocker except the hems. I was really pleased with how it turned out, the oversized fit means it’s really comfortable and I know I’ll get lots of wear out of it, especially now the weather is improving. This is probably the first time I have worn/sewed with this colourway but I really like it! It’s so lovely to have someone choose something for you so you try something different.

On an inset day before returning to school last month I visited a garden centre and roped my mum into taking some photos. Surprisingly there isn’t much in bloom in mid-February but the sun was out so we were able to take a few photos. Forgive the range of random garden ornaments – I was aiming for variety rather than just conifers as a backdrop!

I’m currently eagerly awaiting a delivery from Loubodu from this weekend. There are some real beauties in stock including this dreamcatcher fabric I haven’t come across anywhere else. I think this will make a beautiful dress. Thank you Lorrelle, for being so thoughtful and really brightening up my January.
