For a few months there I managed to post on my blog weekly, but after a couple of weeks break I’m back to show you the AK Patterns Suzy Dress I made over the May Day bank holiday weekend. It was a particularly productive few days when I batch cut several projects and then methodically sewed them up. I think this Suzy is my favourite and I have already worn it a few times.

I made the UK size 14 and I used this gorgeous leopard print fabric from Loubodu Fabrics. It even has a glittery golden centre and is quite an unusual shade of blue. I prewashed it and it sewed up beautifully.

The pattern came together nicely and I didn’t make any alterations. The Suzy is slightly longer than I would normally go for but I’m happy with the fit including the length. I sewed it all on my sewing machine. I think this dress is suitable for pretty much any occasion – it’s comfortable but smart so ideal work wear and it is also nice to wear on a weekend or evening in the rare eventuality of me wearing something other than running gear. Straight after I finished it I ordered more fabric to make another – I managed to just fit it on to 2m which again I think is pretty impressive and makes it good value for even slightly more expensive fabrics. Also, it has pockets!

I’m currently mulling over what to make next. I have just ordered two patterns to be printed at the copy shop, including one for an upcoming Minerva project and yesterday I traced off a Kalle which may well be next up. Oh, and I’m already part way through some Marigold trousers and a jumpsuit, and have an Ogden Cami cut out and ready to go. Sew much inspiration, I just need to settle down and sew.
