Thank you to Nat at Threads and Bobbins for nominating me for a Liebster. If you’ve not come across it before, please see the description below.
“The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Awesome! Blogging is about building a community and it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs.”
Basically, whoever nominates you gives you a series of questions to answer, normally around 10. You link back to them in your post and answer the questions given. You then nominate other bloggers and provide a list of questions for them too!
So here are the questions from Nat and my answers!
1. What do you do to wind down and destress?
I walk my dogs every day, and always come back in a better mood than when I went out. I love the fresh air and I love seeing how happy they are when out walking, and how much it calms them down afterwards. Depending on school work, I enjoy focussing on a sewing project or browsing online for new products and fabrics, as a way to switch off and think about different things. During longer breaks I love to travel, Canada is my most favourite place.
2. What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Hmm! I add salt to pretty much everything (before tasting…I know) I love a glass of wine, red, white or whatever’s going. I am guilty of cutting corners to an extent, but I think sewing may be making me better at this (or maybe just better at knowing which corners I can get away with cutting!) Since I’ve just consumed a whole tub full of olives, I guess they should mentioned here too. Probably mainly because they are salty.
3. What keeps you motivated to keep blogging?
Comments! New/existing followers. Being part of a network of people I would otherwise not know. I also love the Flag Counter on my blog, I can’t believe people in different countries have visited, if only in passing.
4. Do you have any fur babies- or real babies? 😉 Tell me about them and share some photos!
Yes! Two rescue dogs, Wilf and Oliver, both of whom I completely adore.
5. What category on Pinterest do you get absolutely lost in for hours?
Mostly sewing stuff, although I love how you can browse anything that comes to mind. I’ve got a nice collection of Writing Prompts ready to use in class after a lot of leafing.
6. How did you pick your blog’s name and theme?
I like alliteration and wanted something that combined the fact that I’m a teacher AND a maker, and that the two can’t really be separated as aspects of who I am. Deep eh?
7. Do you have any fun weekend routines? (Waffles on Sunday? Thrifting on Saturday?)
I’m not really a routine type person, I have more of a ‘see what happens’ approach. Does that make me disorganised? Possibly…I’m not at all the kind of person who does a Big Shop once a week. Since I discovered it, I’ve enjoyed a few trips down to the new fabric stall on the local market on a Saturday morning. I try not to leave school work for a Sunday afternoon. I usually visit Skipton, North Yorkshire, on a Saturday in early December with my mum, but she’ll be in Spain this year. I walk the dogs at some point each day, maybe twice. Maybe it’s best to say I’m open to offers.
8. What song do you jam out to every time you hear it?
All Frank Turner, who was clearly thinking about me when he wrote most of those lyrics. Take Me Home is my absolute favourite.
9. If you could do your dream job, what would it be?
Tricky one! I love teaching, but if I didn’t do that, my hippie nature would like to do something to improve the lives of animals. Something I felt was really worthwhile, but in being so, would probably have me in floods of tears all the time.
10. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Unpredictable, moody people, who you are never quite sure what mood you will catch them in. People who don’t mean what they say. Why bother?
11. What fall shows are you addicted to?
I’ll interpret this as what am I watching currently? I don’t watch that much ‘live’ TV, and tend to generally be in the middle of a box set or addicted to something on catch up. I’m currently watching Masters of Sex, I’ve watched the first 4-5 episodes of Sopranos, but am yet to become addicted. I watched 3 episodes of The Fall whilst sewing the other night and really enjoyed them. Gillian Anderson looks amazing! I also quite like New Girl, in a way where I half detest, half want to be Zooey Deschanel.
I think that’s it! I have yet to nominate the next blogger, as some of my first choices have already been featured. Thanks for reading and watch this space. And if we share any similarities, I’d love to know.
I love these awards – you learn so much about the person behind the blog. I also find dog walking a destresser and am absolutely a spur-of-the-moment gal! Never heard of any of those TV shows though….
